Regional events
New Zealand Poetry Slam currently has eight cities and regions represented at our National Finals: Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Nelson/Golden Bay, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hawkes Bay, and Tauranga. Many of our cities host regular poetry events and all of them host the required qualifying slams to send a representative to the National Slam Finals.

Auckland

Auckland's JAFA Slam hosts monthly slam heats and features in the heart of the city. Home of the NZ Poetry Slam, in the past the slam has partnered with Auckland University, Manukau Institute of Technology, and Going West Festival. The Auckland Regional Finals are held September 28th 2016 and the winners will win a spot at the National Poetry Slam in Hamilton. Our heats currently take place at Merge Cafe on K Road.

Motif Poetry runs regular slam events and hosts featured poets through its Poetry in Motion series.
