Action Education - Auckland
Spoken Word Program
Action Education offers a variety of Spoken Word Poetry programmes that can be delivered over a series of weeks, or as one-off workshops. We have a variety of themes that we work with and can also cater to the specific needs of your group. The programmes are designed to give young people the tools and confidence to be able to articulate their own journey, experiences and world view. They can be delivered in a wide range of community settings and within schools - we cover all age ranges from pre-school through to secondary schools. When working in High Schools our programmes can be aligned to The New Zealand Curriculum for English if requested. WORD - The Front Line WORD is an inter-high school Spoken Word Poetry competition, bringing together teams of young people from across Auckland to share their stories in an explosion of youth expression. We will provide a series of workshops for qualifying schools leading up to the main event, which will be set up to facilitate young people exploring their creative ability and to help develop their literary skills. The leadership principles built into this programme will ensure youth take away personal life tools to support them in the future whatever their chosen path. From the young writers taking part, to their peers in the audience, we hope to encourage a love of language, communication, and engagement with literature. Uplift - Hamilton
Uplift is the dreamscape creation of Hamilton youth worker Hamiora DeThiery. Created in 2013 in collaboration with Te Ahurei a Rangatahi and the Hamilton Slamdown Poetry Community, Uplift was designed to engage schools and local communities. Uplift runs Spoken Word workshops to allow a space for youth to express, talk, heal, make connections and begin to learn their own Spoken Word language. Essentially, Uplift is about cultivating our language of connection, with self and one another. Coming into our fourth year, Uplift tours with 12 members and shares stages with incredible poets from as far away as Canada. Every year more young people rise to the challenge of poetry spoken aloud, to articulate the landscapes of their inner worlds, to make monuments of what they perceive and to teach us of tomorrow.

Faultline Poetry Collective - Christchurch
Faultline Poetry Collective is a group of young writers from Ōtautahi, Aotearoa who met through Rising Voices Movement. Faultline was imagined out of a desire to see more young people able to access creative, safe and bold spaces to share their work and hear the many unique stories and voices around them. To do this, The Collective hosts The Faultline Open Mic on the last Friday of every month at White Elephant HQ – it is a relaxed, friendly and alcohol free venue and the mic is open to anyone to share their work (poetry or otherwise!).To keep up with their events and other projects, like Faultline on Facebook or contact them at [email protected]
